This project is designed to supplement a face-to-face class in which students are learning to build a computer. The background behind the technologies and components will be taught in the class and these exercises will be used to fortify that knowledge by presenting a constructivist environment for the student to practice putting the new material to actual use.
The first exercise (the component match up) focuses on the relationship between two components and focuses the learner's attention on identifying the technology specifications that determine whether two components are compatible or not.
The second exercise (the simulation) on the assembly process as a whole whereby the learner is tasked with choosing and assembling all the components that go into a completed computer.
